Welcome to Sean Sylvester Photo
Sean Sylvester is a Newcastle-based independent publicist photographer specializing in swimwear, lingerie, nudes, centrefolds and commercial fashion. Shooting to publish (@shoot2publish2) with Playboy and many more magazines has enabled him to assist models with their publication dreams and has opened many opprotunities for all.
Sean has photographed : Swimwear, Wedding Art, Portraiture, Culture, Fashion, Devian-Art, Nude, Pin-up, Centerfolds, Event Coverage, Bands/Musicians, Landscape, Seascape, Press, Architecture, Catalogues, Nature, Food and Beverages, Pets, Hair styles.
With over 35 years of passion in the Photographic arena, the understanding of the old formats and styles with the new has created a diverse way of capturing light and shadow, motion and still, soft and crisp impactful images.
Sean is a Photography Instructor and mentors a photography group, Novacapture, with Carolyn Long and a friendly, great team of Admins where he teaches the arts, styles and techniques of modern day photography with some old techniques. Novacapture hosts events and workshops in Land/Seascape, Lightning, Birding, Macro, Portrait, Modelling, Bikini, Boudoir, Lingerie, Urban, Architecture, Flash and many more... Mentorships, photography items and tickets to workshops are available to be purchased at the products, services and events pages.
Sean is the Editor-In-Chief for an Australian magazine, Oz Babes Magazine, where the contents are of great Australian and International models. The magazine portrays the talent of photographers, models, hair/make-up artists and some gorgeous locations. Hard copy and pdf editions are available at the Oz Babes Magazine Store. OZ Babes Magazine has regular events which can be found on the Events page, select if your a Model or Photographer and register.
Sean's work has a unique look and has been on display around the world as part of a gallery, The Fuji Collections ACMP (Australian Commercial & Magazine Photographers) association of Australia, WWP (World Wide Press) Photo Book, images have also been used for Bra's n Things catalogues, Playboy, Penthouse, Picture, Cars Australia, Loveable swimwear and lingerie window posters, Annie Lantz, Caspi (up-market Chinese clothing company), hundreds within Newspapers for all news and events, band cd inserts, Blogs.
Sean has been published with top tier publishers including National Geographic, (pictured below), Penthouse, Bra's 'n' Things, Goddess, Crush, Soft, Bikini USA, Vanquish, ModelzView, Bras n Things, Finest, Vanquish Tattoo to name a few.
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC PUBLICATION 2015.
It's every photographers dream and a rarity to be published by world famous National Geographic.
In 2015 Sean did just that with one of his lightning images taken at Rutherford, NSW of a shelf cloud passing through with a lightning strike.
The image was published for it's technical ability, camera settings, composition and wow factor.
DIPLOMA IN PHOTOGRAPHY and PHOTO IMAGING 2018.
After being in the industry for 30 years having been a film photographer up to 2013, the decision was made to achieve a Diploma in Photography and Digital Imaging to learn new processes, industry trends and current formats. Although he still shoots film on occasion the speediness of digital is a massive benefit.
Rather than just be an experienced photographer, he sought the Diploma to also add to his qualification to be able to teach photography more effectively. This opened the pathways to study further with a Training and Assessment Cert IV and better his skills as a mentor to teach other photographers and also to teach at TAFE and Universities.

2018 COMPETITION.
Sean, on occasion, submits images to competitions. Mostly to keep a check on himself and current skill sets to make sure he's not stagnant or not progressing actively.
There's no point mentoring or teaching if you are unable to clearly demonstrate your abilities and knowledge to your peers.
In 2018 IOTY was awarded in the OPEN EDI section with the image titled "Humbled".
Being an ex photo-journalist after a stint for 2 years, he proved that he still had the eye for catching that story telling moment. Anyone can take a picture, but not everyone can catch the moment of happiness or sadness, excitement or bewilderment. The award spurred him on to compete the following year and now to prove consistency.

2019 COMPETITION.
Proving the ability to be consistent. Sean earnt the Judy Pendegast 1975 Past President Trophy for Highest Small Print Pointscore throughout the year of 2019.
The award is earnt by competing photographers who maintain consistent with the highest point scores throughout the year.

2019 COMPETITION.
Proving the ability to be consistent. Sean also earnt the George Edwards 1966 Past President Trophy for Highest Small Print Handicap throughout the year of 2019.
The award is earnt by competing photographers who maintain consistent with the highest point scores throughout the year.
CERT III MICRO BUSINESS OPERATIONS.
The Cert III in Micro Business Operations is a stepping stone to a soon to have Diploma in Business. Having a clear and thorough understanding of business operations.
Paramount to teaching this credential along with others has to be a requirement so we don't go into business blindly.
CERT IV IN TRAINING & ASSESSMENT 2022.
Rather than be experienced in photography, he then sought the accreditation to teach, train and assess with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to also add to his qualification to be able to teach photography more effectively. This opened the pathways to study further with a Training and Assessment Cert IV and better his skills as a mentor to teach other photographers and also to teach at TAFE, Universities and other RTO's.
FOUNDATION SKILLS UPGRADE TRAINING
SKILLSET.
The Foundation Skills Upgrade Training Package Skill Set enables not just teaching in one area but many areas such as disadvantaged and disengaged learners. Whether hindered by race, ethicinity, LLN deficiencies or other learning hurdles this skill set enabled Sean to teach not just photography, but everything else more effectively. This opened the pathways to teach or train anyone, everywhere.
